Just feeling blah today...vent.
So there is a lot of drama with Talia's first birthday - to the point that we may not have a party at all...and I am upset about it. Partially because it's JUST a first birthday party - it shouldn't be this much drama.
Secondly with everything going on in the world...why do I feel so upset about a little birthday party - it feels so selfish. (Esp. since we have family in Haifa who had a bomb land 1/2 a mile away from them the other day.)
So I guess I am mad at myself - but still I am feeling blah - hoping it all works out and my little girl gets the celebration she deserves.
Thanks for reading my vent....insert hugs now please

Talia's first brithday will be all it is meant to be......even if it's just a small gathering of your most loved friends and family. It's all about being together and celebrating life.

That stinks that there drama over her b-day party. Can you just ignore it somehow and just remind everyone that's its just a 1st b-day party?!

But don't feel selfish either-it's your little girls first birthday and of course you want to make a big deal about it-and you should ;)

I know in the grand scheme of things a first birthday doesn't seem like a big deal but I think for us mom's our babies first big celebration is a huge deal for us even though others may not quite get it. I hope it all works out for you and Talia.

Yes -- there is a ton of things going on in the world -- but sometimes we also need to celebrate the GREAT things going on -- and your little girl's 1st Birthday is one of them! She is a blessing and it's easy to get caught up in all of the negativity -- but remember that her birthday should be about her and she does deserve something -- I aggree, it can just be a small gathering of family and friends, it doesn't need to be a HUGE deal, but we do have to remember to celebrate the amazing things that we have in our life.

I know how you feel. We've cancelled and rescheduled Christopher's birthday more times than I can count. At this point we're having a get-together with immediate family almost an entire month after his actual birthday.

I think while it's "just a 1st birthday", it's YOUR DAUGHTER'S 1st Birthday so it is important to you. No in the grand scheme of world events (even with family involved) it probably isn't important - but right now to YOU it is. So feel free to be upset about it.
Not sure what the drama is, but nonetheless.

thanks for the hugs. It's not a matter of big or small - I am happy either way. It just seems like anytime something like this comes up (her baby naming for example) it's always drama and unenjoyable to plan - I hate that!

I totally feel you...I haven't even begun to plan her b-day (and I really should) because it's ALWAYS drama...
I agree with Barbara, it's Talia's first b-day and it's important to you, I know I am going to be so excited in a bittersweet day when Bella turns 1...

I hear ya' on the drama and planning.... The way I handle things now... I plan according to how me and my DH want things...I don't say anything to anyone, or ask anyones opinion... they get they invite in the mail... and if there is an issue then they can RSVP no!
Its Talias 1st b-day- try to enjoy this planning whether it be big or small!!! You will only get to do this once (well at least for her)
