i have a question about my 6 week old
sleeping in a carseat..does anyone do this? and is it bad for them? dd seems to love it.and sleeps really well through the night. before bedtime i usually put her in it,rock her and she falls asleep and i just leave her in it..is that bad? dh thinks it will mess up her spine..should i ask my dr.?thanks for your help

I think it's fine once in awhile. Particularly if they have colds and have problems sleeping at night. Ideally you would want them to get used to NOT being in the fetal position.
eta. Yes, I would ask your doctor. Can't hurt to ask.

My DS slept like that for like 2 weeks, then he started sleeping ok without it.

my son would only sleep in his car seat ....my doc said it was because he felt confined liek in the womb...just watch for flat head!  lol

DS sleeps in his carseat alot. When he was sick it was all the time for a week. DH said the same thing about his spine but the ped said it was no problem.

Ped. said it's no problem for us. We did it because her reflux was so bad, and it kept her upright and cozy. She quickly outgrew wanting to sleep in it.

DD is 11 weeks and sleeps in her swing (similar position as car seat) and ped said it was fine. I worry that she won't transition to the crib but my friend said all 3 of hers slept in their car seats until around 9 months! They all eventually went into their cribs and their spines look fine to me

My ped said that we could put him to sleep in the car seat and put the car seat into the crib. We didnt do it because he sleeps fine, but it's ok to do it.

Jordana did this once in a while. In fact, we went away for a weekend and brought a basinette but she kept falling asleep in her car seat and we didn't want to move her, so we left her there. SHe slept very well!
