Adding rice to BM/formula

I brought Marron to the doctor today for her 3 month check-up. She is 11lbs 13oz (50th percentile) and 24.5 inches (95th percentile).

I discussed with the doctor that she spits up ALOT, seems pretty crabby most of the day, and that her BMs are always like brown water (sorry if TMI). He said that she has reflux (not serious enough for meds), and that it sounds like she may have a milk protein allergy. So far, she has only been getting BM. He wants us to start alternating the BM with lactose-free formula or Alimentum. He also said to give her 1/2 of her feeding more often and to add 1tsp of rice cereal to each 2oz of milk per feeding to try to reduce the spitting up. My question is whether she will need different nipples on the bottles to accommodate the added rice, or does it not really thicken it up that much? We are currently using size 1 Dr. Brown's. I have some size 2 nipples and also some cereal nipples. Does anybody have experience with this and know if the size 1's will work or will I need one of the others?

i didnt change the nipple i just cut a little bit bigger of a hole in the nipple and that worked fine

i opened the hole with a sterile pin but very little. i also used dr. browns

Did anybody ever use the cereal nipples? I'm afraid the hole in those will be too big considering I am just thickening up the milk rather than really giving cereal in the bottle.

Ryan did not have AR but did spit up alot...

My Dr also suggested adding a little cereal to make it easier for him to keep it down... but I always had a problem with no matter which size nipple I used... I would only add a teaspoon, Use cereal nipples, and the thing would still get clogged...

I found the size 2 were too big, so were the y cut.

I made the hole in the size one bigger with a fork.
