should I just quit?
I have worked at a gym for 5 years teaching body sculpting once a week. I'm paid like cr@p ($15 for a 45 minute class) and now they're screwing me around on my taxes. They said that legally they have until March 26 to get me my 1099 form. I think that's BS. They business is run poorly (I've had measely $30 checks bounce) and now this. Considering that I'm now pregnant, I'm thinking about just quiting. It's no longer worth it to me.

Personally, i would quit, as long as the income isn't completely needed for living expenses.

If it's no longer worth it, then quit! It's not like you're making a lot of money, so it's not worth the hassle. Enjoy your pregnancy!

Call the IRS and report them. Then quit your job and look for a place where you can teach a mommy-to-be gym class and maybe a post-partum class after the baby arrives. There are too many gyms for you to deal with this crap.

Deadline for 1099's was to be postmarked 1/31/06!! quit, and report them, doesn't sound worth it.

The 1099's were due to the receipt, which would be you on 01/31/06 like another poster had said. The company needs to file an offical copy to the government post dated 02/28/06. When you get a 1099 their are no taxes taken because you are not considered an employee. A W-2 would show taxes taken out but has the same deadlines as the 1099's. Hope that helps.
I also think you just quit, I dont think the $15 is worth your aggrivation with them especially that you are pregnant now.

I did it, I quit. After 5 years I have finally told them enough's enough. I was nice enough to tell them that I would work this Saturday, but that would be my last class.

I am on a 1099 that is BS! They have to give it to you before January 15th, same as a w-2.
