Is a white dress ok to wear...
We are leaving for a wedding in Puerto Rico tomorrow after work. On Friday night there is a casual get together with cocktails, etc., (wedding is Sat night) and the attire is "island casual". Is it ok for me to wear a white sundress? I just don't want to "compete" with the bride in the white department

I'm sure anything goes for island weddings, however i personally would just stay away from white for wedding ceremonies, rehearsals and e-parties. JMPO unless they request you wear white. KWIM

you're talking about wearing it friday night, right? not to the wedding?
I think it would be ok to wear the night before the wedding...maybe with a colorful shawl, or belt or something....

Even though it's not really a wedding related event, I think I'd stay away from white also. Just in case the bride wears white!

yes, it's NOT for the wedding....it's the night before when they are having a casual cocktail get-together.
edited to add that i will wear a wide brown belt with it.....(if that makes a diff?)

This is what I was thinking also. I wouldn't wear a white dress to anything related to a wedding.
