I actually heard it was a female instructor so I guess some parts of the media dont have their facts right altogether bc alot of people are saying female and some are saying male. Yes, whoever that person is, is definitely getting overlooked.

I said the same exact thing to my DH. Just because he was "famous" doesn't make his death any more tragic than the other life that was lost.

I said the same thing to DH last night. It doesn't make it any more tragic that it was a well-known person. He was a son, a father, and a husband, and all of that is more important than the fact that he played baseball. Famous or not, a tragic loss of life is a tragic loss of life.

FINALLY - his name was Tyler Stanger. He was married with a small child, and his wife is pregnant with their second child!

This is exactly how Newsday reported it in their article this morning:

"Police sources said the California flight instructor who was killed was believed to be Tyler Stanger."

Believed to be??? So it wasnt actually confirmed as of press time and your printing his name?

That really bothers me. One of hte headlines was "pilot trainer also killed"

They had a lot of info on the other man this morning on fox. They talked about him and I believe his family too. What bothers me big time is that about an hour after the crash the other day I was driving home, listening to info on the crash on some am channel and they were bashing cory lidle, saying how stupid he was for flying with so little experience, bringing up all his faults, how he hated joe torre...the man just died in a horrific accident and your going to bash him, better to say nothing at all. I hate the media...would it kill them if they printed a friggin story that was heartwarming and heroic?? I personally would pay to hear those stories rather than the "we'll tell you all the things wrong with the world and scare the sh1t out of you crap" they play every day!!!!

I saw something on the other guy today... I think it was fox 5 that did a piece on him and even had an interview with one of his friends

OMG...You are so right Lana. I was listening to a telephone interview on CNN with his twin brother, the night it happend and he said that Corey's wife was en-route via airplane back home to California when it happend (a 6+hr flight) and he had not spoken with her yet and didn't think she was aware of what had transpired after she boarded her plane. How sad is that. With all the media frenzy, that poor woman is got off her plane and had to see on the TV, that her husband, who was alive and well, just hours earlier when she left him, was now dead. PITIFUL.

I have been a writer all my life, from the time I could pick up a pencil. Writing is the gift that god has given me and all through middle and high school I was on yearbook and took journalism BUT, I could not adjust to the "reporter" type mindset. Cut-throat and willing to do whatever it took to get the story first, no matter who it hurt in the process. In that business it's all ratings, ratings, ratings and I refused to make a living off of other peoples tradgedies, sorrow and pain. Therefore, I opted not to pursue a career in journalism. It's terrible what the media does to exploit peoples lives, quite frankly it's despicable and being the person that I am, I can not and will not ever condone it.

On the subject of the other passenger, all I can say is that, It saddens me that we live in such a superficial society that idolizes celebrities as if they were saints, especially when most of them only do things that will be a benefit to them in some way.

actually what i thought i read was that BOTH WIVES were flying together and had family waiting for them in the airport when they landed to tell them the news...


I am not surprised or shocked by anything, as far as the media is concerned...

As i said before, this country puts celebs first and foremost...so i am not surprised the media follows in suit..
Maybe when we the PUBLIC stops OBSSESSING over friggin celebs and every friggin move they make....the media will stop as well

IMO that is the society that WE have created...So i can't blame the media ..

But i highly doubt that the crash would have been low key, "so over" if the Yankee hadn't been on it...

It was a huge thing and i think would have been in the papers just as much.....just not also on the Sports section ....
