I just quit my job!!!
In Feb. I accepted a position as a singing bartender in a piano bar that was just opening. I was a little torn because it was in direct competition with the piano bar I have worked in for 7 yrs. After hours of debate and realizing that I needed to make more money, I accepted the position, but kept my 2 shifts a week at the first piano bar.
Well, after 4 months I have had it!!!!! I am unhappy and I feel like the owners don't want the place to work. I used to fill in at my old job on a weekend night and walk away with a minimum of $250. Now, on a weekend night ( I work both Fri and Sat there) I am barely breaking $60 a night. After debating all weekend ,asking my boss at piano bar #1 if I could get back on as #1 on the list to cover weekend shifts and being told absolutely, I have just quit piano bar #2. I feel kinda bad because a very dear friend of mine is the one that hired me. I feel like I am disappointing him, but I have to think about myself and my DH's financial situation. I hope that he will understand and still be my friend, but ultimately my happiness is more important. I mean I can fill in every third weekend night and make more money then I was making every night at piano bar #2 and I have more time with my DH (which is scarce).
Sorry for the rant. I am just questioning myself. Plus, the 2 glasses of wine make me a little chatty.

Heidi, you have to do what's best for you and dh. Don't feel bad, anyone else would have done the same.

Thanks!!! I just feel like I let a friend down. On the other hand, by the time I got home some night I was making $25. That is just ridiculous!! I am not only bartending I am singing.
Thank you again. I need reassurance even though in my heart I know my family comes first.

i know its rough, but you cant always do for other people- especially when Theyre not paying your bills 
I think you made the right decision... you have to do whats right for You and DH, the others will be OK, but you DO have to put yourself and your marriage first

It sounds to me that you made the best decision, you have to think of yourself in situations like these. It has to be what benefits you and that job was not benefiting you at all!

I think a friend would understand you quitting because you aren't making enough money. It is a valid reason and you are trying to support your self- it doesn't make sense to stay and I think any rational person would see it that way.
