When people ask how far along you are...

how do you answer?

in weeks?
in calendar months?
in lunar months? (#of weeks/4)

I'm due June 15th
in weeks, I'm 31 weeks on Thursday
in calendar months, I'm 7 months
in lunar months, I'm almost 8 months

whats the right answer?

It gets confusing with pregnancy being 40 weeks, which is 10 lunar months but only 9 calendar months. I'm just curious how others normally anser the question. Lately I've been answering it by saying how much time I have left...ex: "I'm due in June", "2 months to go", etc...

I told people calendar months unless they specifically asked how many weeks I was.

I too, answer in weeks, I can't keep up with months with trimesters anymore !

I mean - I say I am in my 34th week, it sounds better than saying I am in my 7th month. It just seems like the more the number the more time has gone by. I don't know maybe I am weird

I was just thinking this this morning...I don't know what to do. I feel like if I answer in weeks, people won't understand how far along I am. So...I figured I would say months...like right now I am almost 13 weeks, so I would say 3 months. But when I was 15 weeks, I would say almost 4 months and so on. This whole thing is way too confusing.

I'll usually say "I am 35 weeks out of 40 and I am due May 16th". This way, people get a better sense and clarifies for some that don't know a pregnancy is 40 weeks long Right now I know I am due in about a month, so I tell them I am 9 months pregnant and I usually get this look:

I use weeks now too, since I'm 32 and it's more confusing in terms of months now.

Even though women have been having babies since the beginning of time, there is no right answer. I usually told people in lunar months (4 weeks = a month). Its so confusing.

Either way I answer it, I always seem like a liar... especially because people keep asking Qs:

Them: How far along are you?
Me: I'm 8 months.
Them: Oh, so you're baby will be here in May?
Me: No, early June.
Them: So then you're 7 months?
Me: No, exactly 32 weeks, women are technically pregnant for 10 months.
Them: No....
Me: um... yea...



So now I just say how much time I have left...
Them: How far along are you?
Me: Only 7½ weeks to go!

I remember telling a male waiter I was 22 wks along and he looked SO confused So from then on, I would translate it into months if it was a guy, or someone else who wasn't really aware of the week schedule
