Bad back and epidural question...

I was wondering if any of you ladies had a bad back pre-pregnancy and if that effected whether or not you were able to have an epidural.

I was speaking to my doctor at my last appointment and she said we would discuss it more in later appointments but I am not sure what she meant by that. She said that if you have a bad back pre pregnancy it may effect the decision on whether or not to have an epidural due to side effects later on.

Anyone else ever hear of this or not be able to have the epidural because of this?

I am not sure if he can answer it, but I have to see an orthopedist so I will ask. A cat scan last year revealed I have scoliosis and I have to find out where the curve is in case I need an epi. That has just about scared me away from it.
