Olivia Newton-John's teenage daughter Chloe Lattanzi has postponed her anticipated debut single in the wake of Patrick McDermott's shock disappearance.

Lattanzi, 19, was preparing to film the video clip for her first single in Sydney when the family received news that McDermott was missing. The aspiring pop princess and her mother flew out of Australia late last month, telling friends they had a "family drama".

Lattanzi, who is signed to Festival Mushroom Records, had spoken enthusiastically of her pending release, saying it was due out this month with the album - Chloe Lattanzi: Lonely Nights in Paradise - expected to be released by the end of the year.

Festival Mushroom spokeswoman Kate Amphlett confirmed the project had been put back until next year, but denied the upheaval over McDermott's disappearance was behind the postponement.

"Chloe is back in the US and she is going to record a couple of additional tracks for consideration for the album," Amphlett said.

"The decision was made by the record company and had nothing to do with any personal matters. "There was a feeling we were rushing the record and the video ... she is just working on getting the album right."

Lattanzi's showbiz career began in 1993 on Australian soap Paradise Beach, when she made her acting debut alongside her father, US actor Matt Lattanzi.

In 2003 Lattanzi was signed to Festival Mushroom Records, the same label Newton-John has been with since the early '70s.

There is considerable US interest in the teenager, whose musical style has been described as "sexy, edgy and out there".

News of McDermott's disappearance broke a week ago, though he has not been seen since taking a fishing trip on June 30.

do you all think he is really gone? or did he disappear and change his name? i would really like to know that is scary that someone disappears after a fishing trip and does not return.

I think he is gone but I don't think they want to rule anything out or give up hope.
