omg, there is so much to see on Big Island... we just came back from our honeymoon there... make sure to see:
Pololu Valley
Waipi'o Valley
Hawai'i Tropical Botanical Garden
Akaka Falls
Umauma Falls
Volcanoes of course
I will post some pictures for you when I get home

isnt the place just beautiful  I highly recommend you get the Hawaii: Big Island Revealed guidebook, it has been so helpful, we didnt leave our hotel without it...

Thanks for all the suggestions! DH's sister lives on the Big Island. I wanted to see what we can do while she is at work. We will be staying with her, but DH & I want to get a hotel for a few nights so we can have some privacy.

If you're ok with staying at a place with no phones, tvs, no locks on the doors, but absolutely AMAZING, definitely stay at kona village. Check it out online. It was awesome. When DH & I were there, we were lucky enough to be able to hike on the volcanoes while they were active! (ok, doesn't sound lucky but it was incredible.) Since then, I've heard they won't let ppl do that anymore for safety reasons.
