I have actually stayed at the Ritz Carlton in PR and the Four Seasons in Nevis. I would not recommend Puerto Rico....hubby and I did not like the island even though we liked the hotel. I posted a review of Nevis on LI Families. If you do a search you will find it. We have also been to Miami. We were not that impressed. But you could look at the Delano Hotel. It was beautiful. We had dinner there. They also have a new Ritz in Miami that has been built since we were there. Out of your choices, I would pick Nevis. How about Sandy Lane in Barbados?

I love fancy, but small private hotels...so I know them all. We stayed at the Caves in Jamaica. Jamaica is horrible IMO but the caves is a very unique hotel. Try also The Beach House in Barbuda or there is always Cap Juluca in Anguilla. I also always wanted to try Kura Hulanda in Curacao, but that is a longer flight.

I would look at Paradisus in PR. And the island is gorgeous (of course I could be biased! ) but San Juan is not. That's why I love hotels that are NOT in San Juan...not sure why that's all they show tourists. The local beaches are the best.

Although you're going in hurricane season.

have you considered Turks & Caicos? The Palms is supposed to be awesome and so is Grace Bay Club.

Definitely recommend TripAdvisor.com for your research.

I wasn't crazy about PR either. If you are thinking about Barbados, I would recommend Coral Reef Resort. I thought Sandy Lane was way too snotty, but Coral Reef was beautiful and much more personal....
