Moments in life where you remember...

...exactly where you were...

Of course I know most of us if not all will say 9/11 of course but what other moments in life do you remember exactly where you were?

Taken from the other thread..I remember being in my 4th grade classroom when the challenger exploded. I remember us just staring and my teacher was crying.

I will always remember where I was when the OJ simpson verdict was read. We were all standing around this tiny radio at my first job in preschool waiting for the verdict to come in. I remember the big debate afterwards between all my coworkers.

I also always remember hearing about princess diana's death. I was standing in the middle of my living room in total shock. I thought it was so sad.

For some reason too...the blackout will always stand out in my head too. We were away and my grandmother was home all alone and we were sooo worried about her. I felt so helpless and I guess I really remember it because I was so scared it was part of a terrorist plot.

How about you guys??

I'll always remember the black out. We were looking at the Jericho terrace when the lights went out. We had to drive home with all the traffic lights out. Scott and I walked to get pizza and then I drove home at dusk. I also remember b/c my sister was living with us for a few months with her twin 3 week old babies. She has to do everything for them with a flashlight and prepare bottles with powder and water.

Yes i remember all the big ones like Princess Diana, I remember when the challenger blew up, I remember, 9/11 (most signif for me), when my sister got into a car accident, when one of my clients died. Just tooo many

I remember were I was the night that Princess Diana died.. I was at my X boyfriends house and I happen to wake up late in the night and hear the news.. I was up all night watching it.. I will never forget that night.. I was so shocked.

Most of the above and when my brother's best friend died tragically at the age of 21. I will never forget coming home and hearing the phone ringing as I was walking in the door. My Dad had to tell me Brian's name about 5 times before it registered.

9/11 will never leave my mind...i was in the city, had to walk home !! all the way home....everything about that day from where i was when i first heard about it, what i was wearing, what shoes i was wearing (3 " heels )

LIRR shootings and the '93 Bombing of the WTC, significant because my older brother just started working there.

I was getting may nails done during the black out We thought we blew a fuse then all of a sudden the owners husband was there and he came in and said his friend just called from Roslyn and the lights were out there to. We all went outside and listened to the owners car radio on found out they were out in nj and then other states. She just kept saying oh my god they got us again (terriost)

And of course 9/11

I remember where I was when the challenger exploded 1st grade classroom-in the bathroom-I walked out and everyone was crying, they had been watching it on TV-my mother was happy I didn't see it.

OJ verdict-high school gm, watching on TV.

Shootings at Columbine-I had just walked into my sorority house, and it was during pledging, I walked into the common room, and one of my sorority sisters was staring at the TV, and didn't even hear me say hello, and I walked over to see what she was watcing-and we just stood there frozen-I remember when the pledges walked into the house they came over to greet us, and we just waved them off.

When a very close friend of my ex-boyfriend, and a friend of mine died from testicular cancer at age 23. I had just gotten back to college from spring break, during which time we had all gone out to dinner-I remember my roommate was unpacking and my best friend was napping in my bed while I unpacked, and then the phone rang, and they just stared at me while I bawled on the phone.

I remember all of these and more....

Princess Diana I hadnt even gone to bed yet (in college) so that was kinda frightening for me.

OJ Simpson I was working in the college cafeteria and we gathered around the TV in the Union

9/11 I was at work and not even believing what coworkers were saying - I was like um ok whatever and continued working

I remember when I found out I was pregnant with both my childrren

9/11 ......I was 8 1/2 mths pregnant and on my way into the office with DH on the LIE when we heard the crash on the radio

columbine....I was babysitting

the blackout...I was blowdrying my hair and getting ready to go to a wake....we actually went in the cblackout with the body in the room in the dark it was so creepy

i remember watching "boston Public" when my mom called from the hospital to tell my dad that his mother just died. i remember waking up on 9/11 and calling chris and him asking me if i was watching the news, so i said no, and he said put on any channel.

I remember when princess diana died, I was sleeping and I sleep with the TV on and at like 5 am I heard them say it on the news while in a sound sleep and I woke up.

I remember when I was 8, I had this favorite nightgown, it was the prettiest thing ever and my aunt promised to make me one, the exact same one, when I got older.

I remember the OJ chase and verdict.

The challenger explosion, I was sitting in my classroom and they decided to televise it for us.

I remember the moment my parents told us they were getting a divorce and my brothers both ran to their rooms crying and I asked can we get KFC for dinner tonight!!

There's plenty more moments in life I remember clear as day!!

I remember all of these as clear as day:

9/11- found out as I got to my desk. No one was around. My phone was rining. It was DH telling me to get to a TV. My whole office was in the conference room watching it. We saw the 2nd plane go into the building on TV. Then we went to the terrace on our building on Madison and 50th and saw everything.

Challenger- I was at recess. They made an announcement on the loudspeaker.

OJ- I was in HS in English class. My teacher let us tune in to see it.

Princess Diana- I had JUST moved into my dorm at school and it was my first morning at college when we found out.

Blackout- DH and I were on the phone!! It was hysterical b.c I say the lights went out, and he says "yeah me too" and then we say-"call ya back" then we couldn't get in touch with each other for hours!!

Oh yeah... there are quite a few...
I remember my parents coming to get me in kindergarten because my grandfather had died, and my father was crying (the only time I ever saw him cry)

I remember the exact time when my mother told me she had breast cancer - at my boyfriend's place, on the phone - I passed out on the phone with her, had to crawl outside in the snow to get some air, and just bawled and bawled and bawled

When I found out I was first pregnant - it was DH's birthday. Unfortunately though, I'll always remember more when I miscarried from that one - DH and I were furniture shopping and I just knew something was wrong. Used the bathroom in the store and discovered blood. Came out, told DH we had to leave, and cried the whole way home in the car.

9/11 - I was walking to class for law school and everyone had this strange look on their face. A friend was walking out of the building and I asked what was going on - she told me classes were cancelled, and to go home and turn on the TV.

911- I was in my classroom when parents started coming to the school hysterical...

Donald Manus- anyone remember him.. dont remember what he did exactly but we studied him in 7th grade and he committed suicide..


Blackout- I was on the LIRR going into the city for dinner and a night out with my then husband. We were stuck in there for an hour in the blistering heat and finally had to be evacuated by the police. We walked to the nearest bar with a bunch of strangers and became very friendly. finally got a cab back to Long beach where we went to a blackout party at Minnesotas..

9-11, ironically I had an interview that day but when I was getting ready, I turned the tv and I saw it all. one of the saddest days.
also when princess Diana died, and many others but 911 was definitely the most memorable.

Challenger - I was in 3rd grade and we watched the news coverage and then went home early.

Oklahoma City - I was on spring break in Cancun and I called home to ask my mom to send me more $ (lol) and she was all upset...i was like, why are you upset? She was like, haven't you heard?

OJ - I was in freshman year of college walking on campus and heard everyone cheering and booing when it was announced.

Princess Di - I worked at Old Navy in college and worked til 2am doing cleanup. When I got home I flipped on the TV and at that point, they said she was injured. Soon after that they said she died. In the morning I asked my mom if she had heard and she said "yes, how sad that she is injured" And I said NO, mom, she's dead! She was so shocked.

9-11 I was on the E train coming to work and the conductor says "no train service to WTC". I remember thinking, wow, a lot of people that work there will be ****** and late to work. Then I clear as day, remember walking up to the sidewalk and noticing how blue the sky was that day. I then walked into my building and my coworker told me what happened.

Blackout - I was talking to my boss in her office and then we both at the same time noticed all the lights outside go out. I remember the both of us panicking and thinking it was an attack.
