"mental health" days
Does anyone else ever take these? I called in "sick" this morning b/c I was just so exhausted and needed a day to totally veg out. I feel guilty though b/c I have so much work to do at my internship!
I swear, I could sleep all day!

They are SO important. At my old job I would take them. This job is really not too bad (I get to go on LIF all day), so I don't really need them.

I wish someone would tell my boss this. I haven't called in sick once in the last 4 or 5 years. I have been with him for 9.  Most of the time I think he thinks he owns a slave!

ditto, I take them whenever I feel like I can't take it anymore-and I'm ready to snap....I think it makes me more productive when I come back in,....

I came home for the same reason today. I wasn't feeling well, and I just wanted to veg out. I've been so busy, and haven't had any chance to relax at all with the holidays.
Don't feel guilty...you deserve one once in a while!

My very first "real" boss told me once that mental health days are just as important regular sick days. I've always followed that advice.
I could probably work better when I am physically sick then when I'm exhausted and stressed beyond belief.

I would love to, but I always feel guilty! In fact, last month I took two days off and knew I must've been really sick because I think it was the first time I ever I didn't feel guilty about not going in!
If you find out how to sidestep the guilt, let me know!!!

i think they should be recongized as sick days, instead of "fake" sick days. i take them from time to time.

I rarely use them for sick days I just use vacation days since I always have a lot to use up. Don't feel guilty think of them as "sick of work" days.

I do the same...I use vacation days instead of sick days...I wouldnt feel bad...you need to rest in order to be productive!!

I think that's one of the things sick days are there for! You don't need to be sick sick to use them. Some days you just need to get yourself together. Those are always the days I enjoy the most and I return to work feeling more rested or accomplished (since I have a tendancy to get a million errands & chores done those days).
