First Birthday Party - Food and Beverages? Please help me.
Hi,
Well Ava's 1st Birthday is almost here. July 4th.
As of now it looks like we will be having about 55-60 adults.
I don't know what types of food to put out. I didn't want to go full blown catering. I was thinking maybe some heros (but how many?), pasta salads, reg. salads, hamburgers and hotdogs. Any other suggestions?
Also, what about beverages? Should I just get cases of beer?? How much soda will I need... Anyone have any pointers? Also there will be about 12 children. I was going to do chicken mcnuggets and french fries for them.
I better hit Costco.
Someone please help me figure this all out. Thanks SO much, Denise PS. What about a cake??? I am doing a Little Mermaid theme.

If you are doing heros just tell the place how many people you are expecting and they will recommmend what size to get. IMO i would not bother with burgers and franks if you are having a hero. Too much work. The place you get the heros will also give you some salads.
I would make some appetizers, perhaps pigs in a blanket, wings. (or if you wanna keep it simple cheese and crackers, chips and dip)

At Bj's they have a whole book of character cakes. They make excellent cakes and the decorated ones are so cute for kids

i think you should average about 2- beers person and get a few bottles of wine or maybe make a sangria or some kind of frozen margarita. i think you should make your own salads because the are extra work but tatse so much better

As much as kids love french fries, they tend to get cold and soggy very fast, even when using a sterno.
I would make a half tray of mac and cheese- kids love it and you can leave it in a sterno to keep warm.

I would just say maybe a few more pounds of potato, mac and cole slaw. Everything sounds great.

as someone who does not eat mayo, you might want to add another non-mayo based salad - maybe a pasta salad??
JMO!!
