its a cool tool, but its not that accurate. I wouldn't use it for anything more than fun curiousity.

I agree...Zillow takes an average of the home listings in your area/block and then spits you out a mid range assessment...
So say the house two doors down sold for 1.5 million, and the house three houses down (on the other side) sold for like 775,000 - it would give you the mid range between those figures as a value for your home. There was a very prominent case lately where a homeowner got screwed out of several thousands of dollars because he trusted in the numbers off Zillow.

They show our house for about 50K less than we bought it for. Other houses in the neighbor hood are showed at lower also.
When I plug in the amount of bedrooms, bathrooms, square footage and property size it says my house value is $1,676,054... I WISH!!!!!!!!!!!!! That's more than triple it's current value.
