Gassy baby - bm or formula?
My 8 week old is still very gassy. i have eliminated milk, cheese, garlic, onions and gassy vegetables from my diet and he's on axid for reflux. i'm wondering if he'd be better off on a lactose free formula. i know bm is best but i'm only planning on continuing for another couple of weeks. has anyone seen their dc be more comfortable on formula rather than bm?? tia!

Have you tried cutting out tomato sauce? DS did not tolerate it very well. I found that helped his gas.

my baby has a milk protein allergy, so yes he was better off w/formula than bm. it could be a dairy sensitivity (not just milk) have you had him tested? also there are milk proteins in things that aren't so obvious sometimes, like bread, pasta etc. that can affect them. What does your ped say?

we found that the axid actually made hannah very gassy. it could also be the meds, or it could be that your dc's digestive system is still maturing. the gas issues disappeared for hannah around 10-12 weeks.

Honestly, we had this problem with Ava and after a very difficult decision, I took her off of BM and we foudn out she has a milk protein allergy and also a soy allergy, so it ended up being a blessing that I stopped BF-ing. I would talk to the ped about having her stool checked for blood.
