I have Nextel and so does my DH. We are in Queens and DH works in Brooklyn right now.
We love our Nextels and really don't have any problems with our service!

Most Nextel plans & phones are the same price no matter where you go...its hard to find a deal but as far as having things in stock there is a place on the corner of 109 & Little East Neck near the Silver Pheasant restaurant that has some good things in stock (& sometimes they throw in some freebee stuff).
I forgot the name though

DH and I have Nextel. I think the service is okay. There are some spots where I used to get my calls dropped...but that was on the border from Queens to Nassau.

that tower stinks. I used to have the same problem. There is a weak spot over there so when you switch towers it sometimes drops you. Supposedly now with Sprint that is not going to happen.

I used to have Nextel for years and switched to Verizon for work reasons.... In my area the serive from Nextel is much better than Verizon... that would be Kings Park, Smithtown, Stony Brook, Centereach. I don't even have service at my house with Verizon I regret switching.

Yeah DH and I had nextels for years when we were dating and after planning the wedding we decided to switch to AT&T to save some $$$ every month.. OMG the biggist mistake EVER.
As soon as the wedding was over we called AT&T and shut off those phones and went right back to nextel!

I have to disagree. My DH and I both have Nextels-I used to got rid of mine because I took a job where they pay for my phone-Verizon and i love it. DH still has his. We hated them. We both bought brand new phones and constantly droipped calls, problems with svc-the most frustrating phone I have ever used. We complained numerous times they sugggested we take the phones in to get repaired. Repair told us both the phones were no good-brand new both togethr cost almost 400 bucks. Then when I wanted to cancel they still charged me the cancellation fee even though the svc sucked and I had complained about it numerous times. I would suggest Verizon for LI and NY

I've had it for a few years mainly because of DH. I like it although ever now and then in some areas the service stinks.

DH and I have been with nextel for like 4 or 5 years now...
I love the Direct connect...and as far as service... sometimes I have great and others not so great...
To me its no different from any other cellphone carrier
