Moms: Can you tell me more about these sneakers with wheels?

I just spoke with my mom who was going to buy them for my 5 year old nephew. I think he might be too young for them. What are your experiences with them and what are they called? TIA

i think these are a bad idea. I feel like the kid cna get hurt, and it gives them wheels 24/7. I've seen kids rollserskaiting around the temple!!! I know it all depends on the behavior of the child, but I'd be wary of them...your child has any easy escape, possibly into danger on those things, and they go faster than you'd think. Though I guess it's also up to the parents to decide when and where to allow the child to wear them.

I don't know, I don't like them at all. I would not buy my daughter those. My friend's son has them and he hurt himself the first time he had them.

My step-daughter wants them because they are "cool". I told her if she could save up the $80 for them and spend her own money, she could get them. Needless to say....she doesn't have a pair. She is almost 10.

They're called Heelys.
My son really wanted them for Christmas, and we got them for him. Luckily he doesn't have much coordination in the skating department, and only wears them without the wheels.

Now that I see kids all over the place with them, they could be kind of dangerous, I guess.

bad bad idea.

I work in physical therapy, and in the past 6 months, we've had 2 patients under 12 that BADLY injured the ligaments in their knees/ankles from falling on those things.

Rich is a teacher, and he banned them from his classroom.

I can't stand them! My son (6 1/2) wants them but we've already told him no.

my cousin's son and his friends have them, they are around 10-12...they're really coordinated, they fly around on them, I think they're cute...but then again, I guess thier is the possibility of getting hurt....

My nephew (13yo) & niece (9yo) have them. For a 5 year old, I would say absolutely not.

I hate them! I've been in the supermarket and had these kids zip by me and knock into me. They are like roller skates and you can't wear those in a store. The seem pretty dangerious. Yet, if I was a kid I would definitly want a pair!
