does anyone keep getting a rash with their rings?

I keep on getting a rash where my rings are on my left hand. I take them off for a few days - it goes away - less red and swollen.
When I put them on again it comes right back.

The rings are platinum. I wore my engagement ring for a year and never had this problem. What could it be?

Re: does anyone keep getting a rash with their rings?

what type of wedding band do you have???

I wore my platinum engagement ring for a year and no problem.
A few weeks after I started wearing my platinum eternity band---my finger started to become red, swollen and almost raw/chapped----I notice water or soap was getting trapped under the ring/ in the whole of the eternity band and that was causing the irritation.

I always make sure to take my rings off when I wash my hands, dry my hands very very well and apply moisturizer frequently. At night I do not sleep with my rings and I apply vaseline or carmex--it is a lip balm for extremely dried/chapped lips and this has really helped over time.

This is exactly what happened to me and your brilliant suggestion of Carmex back in the day completely cured it.

I get this as well - I wore my ering since 2002 and my wedding band since 2004 and it just started about 2 months ago. I asked the Dermatologist when I saw her last. She says that it is extremely common. She gave me soemthing for it and told me to leave off my rings until it disappears - but it does comes backChat Icon

She said it is an allergic reaction - you wash and might be sensative to the soap - but it gets caught under the ring and stays against your skin rather than washing off. I try to take off my rings at night now and when I wash my hands.

Re: does anyone keep getting a rash with their rings?

I get it from washing my hands and the water getting between the rings I think

do you not take them off? I mean, do you sleep with them on, shower with them on, etc?

I get this too. It's really painful. Make sure when you wash your ahdns you rinse all of the soap off from under the ring and try to keep it dry Chat Icon

Also try some cortisone cream at night

Re: does anyone keep getting a rash with their rings?

im allerigc to white gold so my hand turns red and itchy when i wear it. thus i have sold all my white gold jewelry on ebay.

it could be that- or you could be developing an allergy to platinum- that is possible too

many women deal with metal allergies
