Fire in Oceanside
Did you see it on the news last night that the old Foodtown on Long Beach road in Oceanside burnt to the ground last night?

omg - we could smell it form my house and we heard all the fire trucks too. holy cow!! i hope no one was hurt

Did you drive by there today? Do you know if the any of the other stores next to food town were damaged? I know the movie theatre had smoke damage

I had been out all day and am living near there. My mom called me to see if everything was OK- I couldn't understand why. Then she told me this morning she heard all the fire trucks and was worried. I can't believe it! Do they know why?

Nassau County fire officials are looking into what sparked a massive blaze that tore through an abandoned supermarket in Oceanside yesterday.
The four-alarm fire started at 3:33 p.m. at the old Foodtown at 2715 Long Beach Road and raged on for nearly seven hours before firefighters got it under control. More than 200 firefighters from across Long Island converged on Oceanside to battle the blaze. One firefighter suffered minor injuries.

It could of been an insurance job but why now? The store has been closed for like 6 years, and nothing has been there since.....I'm surprised they never sold the building.
Its been a busy few weeks for that block. A few weeks ago they knocked down the disgusting oceanside motel which is right across the street from the store that burnet down......

i haven't driven by, i'll bet it was electrical. i can't see why it would be insurance after all this time. unless the owner got tired of looking at it.

I drove by yesterday. I don't really remember what was there before but everything to the left of the movie theatre is GONE! There is nothing but A LOT of burnt wreckage between the movie theatre and Commerce Bank
