Do people just pretend to be this stupid? (VENT)
I call an office where I **KNOW** that a particular person works. Someone else picks up the phone.
Me: "May I speak with Larry Green please?"
Stupid: "Who?"
Me: "Larry Green."
Stupid (with a tone as if I just asked him for a kidney): "Larry Green? Larry GREEN??!?!? I have NO IDEA who you are talking about. There is no one that works here by that name."
Me: "Is this Office Blahblah"
Stupid (rudely): "YES, it IS. And NO ONE by that name works here."
Click.
So I got up from my desk, walked (okay stormed) across the parking lot to the other building, walked into the office where FOUR people were sitting.
Me: "Who just answered this line?"
Them: "Tony."
Me: "Where is Larry Green?"
Them: "Went home for the day. "
Me: "OH. I SEE. But he DOES in fact work here?"
Them (looking bewildered): " Yes, of course he does."
Me: "Then PLEASE inform the person who answers your phone - 'Tony' - that Larry Green exists. Thank you!"
HE WAS SOOO FRIKKIN RUDE!!!
