It was entertaining in terms of the fact that the kids went apeshit over the changes, but honestly, pretty stupid show.

I was hoping for some tips. I'm going to try to break some bad habits as early as possible. I read an article in Newsday about behavior & diet.

Yes, they are from Holtsville. I couldn't tell if it was the Pathmark in the Sun Vet Mall.

The show has a good premise and I'm sure it was shocking to for the parents to see how their children would look when they are older if they continued the bad habits that they had. They made the kids out to be a bit whiny over the whole change, but come on... the only thing the kids knew were twinkies and watching tv. Of course if you take away what they depend on they will be hostile and unwilling participants. I'll be interested to see how next week's episode is different from the one on last night.

I didnt see the show, but gals that did....did they blame the parents and the lack of exercise on the child's obesity?
I remember as a kid, we were outside playing from sunup to sundown and now you can drive around my neighborhood and not a child to be seen....its VERY sad!!!!!

I saw it and basically, the expert told the parents that the poor diet and lack of any exercise was terrible for the children. I didn't think it was anything new, except for the fact that they showed these computer enhanced photos of what the children will look like when they are 40, if they continue with their unhealthy habits. Then they did this again, projecting what they would look like if they keep the healthier habits.
I did think the changes they made were pretty drastic - I think when you have been letting your children eat whatever they want and watch TV for 5 hours a day, asking them to quit cold turkey is pretty tough. The first meal they made was tofu stir fry - DH said "I wouldn't even eat that, why would they think 3 young kids would eat it?"

I said the same exact thing. I was like, Ok, chicken probably would have made it a little easier, don't ya think?
However, I think going cold turkey is probably the only way to go with something like that. I also liked that she kept the junkfood in the house to teach them healthy choices.

I watched it and I said to my husband, I think that is the Ballys gym on Middle County in Lake Grove (across from the mall) and then a little while later they showed them at a chinese restuarant and I said that is the one on 347 (I think it was called Ying Yang - it is over by J & R's steakhouse).
