I'd love to know about immediate relief too. It's been one of my most brutal pregnancy issues and I've only done things that take hours to take effect (like taking fiber pills)

I guess if I don't feel any better in the morning I will need to hit the drugstore.

Any home remedies? Anything I might already have in the house?

I wonder if decaf would work. If so, I will make a pot of coffee right now.

I have a couplef friends who suffer from this---
they buy a tea from the health food store or GNC called "Smooth Move".

Also I head that psyllium husk ( ita a powder) mixed with water works wonders.

For me Prune juice or milk of magnesia really will clean you out - if you take the milk of magnesia make sure you are home for the dayChat Icon

I might need to looks for this tea. I haven't had this problem in a while but it would be good to have some helpers on hand.

Re: Don't know where to post this-TMI

My gastroentronologist and I are on a first name basis Chat Icon he always says to take fiber con or metamucil (sp?) and within 24 hrs you are back to normal. The only immeadiate relief Chat Icon is an enema or ipecac and thats is desperation and not reccommended AT ALL. Stick with fibercon, its a pill a day and you will never be caught in this situation again. Chat Icon

Re: Don't know where to post this-TMI

Be careful not to use too much Psyllium husk fiber if you are already bloated as it can cause extra gas.

drink alot of water too, it can help!

Re: Don't know where to post this-TMI

Sometimes an orange can work too. When I worked at a sleep-away camp we'd give the kids who were complaining of stomach aches an orange before giving out any meds. 9 times out of 10, the kid "went" and the stomach ache was cured.

Hope you feel better soon!

Okay, you might think this is weird, but here it goes. My cat always had a problem with constipation. Our vet told us to put Metamucil and pumpkin pie filling in with his regular food. It definitely kept things moving.

Re: Don't know where to post this-TMI

Thanks for all of these ideas. So far there hasn't been a monumental "movement", Instead it is like pebbles (TMI, I know)

I should go to the drugstore and get some fiber pills.

I wonder if this weather is aggravating the situation.Chat Icon
