DH & I went to Ralph's which is down the block from MIL and then stopped by his mom's. It got me thinking about what I had posted earlier. Like I said, I think my big concern was that she is strange to my fam and I was not sure why she reached out to my friend and not ever my family. While I do still think it is odd that she e-m my friend who she has only met a few time and never really talked to, as DH pointed out to me, MIL has odd relations with her family and her live in boyfriend's fam which could be why she is odd with mine and does not reach out to them. I know she loves me and she has told me and DH many times that she considers me the daughter she never had. She is very generous to me. While I have been raised to be family oriented, she has not had the same upbringing and we may just view things differently. One difference is that if my mother did something, I would definitely talk to her about it, while I do not feel like I can do that yet with MIL. Petty as they may be, some things will annoy me and I am sure she is annoyed by little things - but at the end of the day, we are family, and all of this is par for the course as we meld together as one family.
