Anyone with mother-in law issues will love this!
We received our XMas card yesterday, the cover just said Son. On the inside both our names, then the little blurb, and then love you both, mom, and her name.
She signed her name 2 different ways! ***?
Last year she had a card that said son, but she wrote in daughter-in law. I didn't even get that this year, and she had to sign her name! As if I wouldn't know who she was if she just signed Mom! uggghhhhh!!!!

Be thankful you get a card...my MIL doesn't send out Christmas cards! Or birthday cards (in particular mine) for that matter.

I have to first start by telling you that if I never see my husbands family again it would be a blessing. But to keep to the subject, we received a xmas card for him and I but without his daughters name on it. No, she doesnt live with us but she doesnt send one to his daughter at her moms house because they dont like her mom either. The past two yrs (our first two) I've had to hide the card so she wouldnt notice. How Rude!!!

sounds like you have a MIL who has attachment issues...
To be honest i would be honest with my DH about how you feel when she does this and i think he should speak to his mom. I really woudln't call her a B I T C H....that seems kinda harsh to me but it is DEFINITELY ODD.

i know what you mean.....my mil did that for a few holidays and she forgot my bday a few times......definetly attachement problems i say....shes wierd like that...to top it off what makes me so mad is my parents send her a card every year for xmas and then she doesnt send them anything back (they didnt get off to the best of starts and my parents apologized but mil holds the biggest grudge ever).....i feel bad for you i know exactly what your going through

Oh I totally agree!! Doesn't seem like she was ready to hand over her little boy to you.
DH needs to have a chat with her.

Oh well my mother in law sent a card for a son and didn't ackowledge me at all. For my b-day only one person sent me a b-day card and that was one of his sister inlaws and I got a call from one of his sisters thats it I got nothing no card from MIL no phone call from her but someone better help you if you don't give her a call or send her a card or something for her b-day all hell breaks o ut

It's the same way with me. I have been with my DH for 8 years, married for 9 months and we have 2 daughters and I have never gotten even a phone call telling me Happy Birthday....
and she doesn't even acknowledge our children's birthdays,
BUT she will have people over for cake for her 2 other grandchildren's birthdays
I stopped trying to figure it out and I stopped arguing with DH about it, it's not worth my marriage..

My MIL sent my parents and my sister a card. We haven't gotten ours yet. She likes to save ours until she sees us and we aren't spending christmas with her so we probably won't see her until spring. do they make belated christmas cards...hahahaha

Here's a lovely one for you...
when we had our daughter, my crazy SIL that we are not speaking to sent a congratulatory card two weeks later...addressed to my daughter!
um, she's two weeks old beeyatch...
that is absolutely disgusting!
they havent acknowledged your daughter despite your differences? I think a phone call from this SIL sounds sufficient ...forget the card!

I would be lucky to get even a Christmas Card from my mil or dh sisters.My dh and I have been married for a year and in the process of looking to buy a house. We are trying to save every dime. My mil let us know this year for Christmas we are only going to buy for the kids. Which was fine I would rather give then receive. My dh talks to his sisters this week, they call him to say how we "better not expect anything from them!". I dont know if its me but it felt so cold for them to say. It would of been better for things to be left unsaid. Christmas is about giving and we are so excited to give the kids presents and never expected a thing. I just don't get it they cry they have no money, yet they live in nice areas with beautiful home, they are successful and have very successful husbands! I try so hard to understand them and am trying to grin and bear it but its starting to get the best of me.

I try to do the right thing by FH's family but I will never have the relationship I wish I could have. My family has embraced FH as a son, brother and uncle. It is sad that I don't feel reciprocity.
