Question on cereal.. AGAIN!
So i tried rice cereal with Jacob two days ago, by putting some on my finger and letting him kinda **** it off, he seemed to like it. Problem: He woke up at 2 am that night crying, and scrunching up his legs and passing gas! It took me forever to get him back to sleep and then he kept waking up every half hour with the scrunching of the legs and crying. So i am assuming that it was the cereal, since i heard that rice cereal can give them gas and/or constipation. I HATE THIS!! He is already at 32 oz of formula a day, what the hell! Do i need to wait like a month and try again. Or could it just be the rice, maybe try oatmeal? Anyone experience this? I knew he would have issues with solids. Why not? He's got issues with everything else!!! I'M SO FRUSTRATED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How old is he now? I really found that waiting on solids with Miranda was key. I tried early but just knew it wasn't for her. With all the AR and spitting up I really felt like her digestive system just wasn't ready to process it all. Have you talked to the ped or GI about it?
That said I give her oatmeal. She has always been constipated so she's on medication for that so I don't know if oatmeal has been better than rice or if its just her medicine doing its job.

I never gave Bella rice cereal and my Ped actually recommended not to start with Rice. She was very regular and I didn't want to mess with that. We started with Oatmeal and Barley and it workedout OK for us...

Poor baby :( We started with Rice and he did great on it. Oatmeal, he did horrible on and acted the same way your son is. So I stopped it on the 3rd day and gave him barley. He went back to normal but did have a lot more BMs. So now we give him rice for the most part and mix some Barley in there cause I don't want him to get constipated due to too much rice.

How old is he? I waited until five months and so did another friend of mine and my son had no problems. I started with rice, then oatmeal and then barley.
I figured my son's little digestive system would be ready by then. I was in no rush to offer solids.

I give ALex oatmeal (just a bit) every night (her 2nd to last feeding). I spoonfeed it to her, the first time she was like WTH???!!! But now she has so much fun eating it!
I tried rice the first time & she had a horrible time with it- so give the oatmeal a shot!

My daughter loved oatmeal, hated rice. Luckily she didn't have any major gas problems. Sorry I can't be more help...Good Luck.

Maybe try the Oatmeal instead. Also, give it to him in the morning, only a few teaspoons at first. See if he does any better with that. Frankie hates "rice", so I don't even give him that anymore. Hang in there

I agree with the oatmeal. I just started Ryan on it and he loves it.. much better than the rice. So you know, I started my son much earlier than the other moms on cereal and had no problems what so ever.
