How to deal with NEEDY people
How do you deal with people who are VERY needy and all attention needs to be on the bad in their lives no matter what the topic of conversation is? Getting rid of this person is not an option. When I get together with this person and other people that they dont even know it always turns back into their situation and struggles. I seriously cant take it.

i know this problem is hard to deal with . my friend did this to me and still at times does it. i just walk away or tell her you know you don't know what you have till it's gone. it helps for a little while. i hope that helps

ummm, yeah, they call her my SIL!!!!!!!!
She is constantly stealing everyone's thunder!!!! When I was planning my wedding, she was PG, oh my goodness, she was such a *****!!! Everything in the world had to revolve around her. Every time we would talk about the wedding, she would ooh, ahh, the baby......gimme a break!
My advice is to be a bigger person and understand that this person must have very low self-esteem and is in need of major attention. They cannot stand someone else to be in the spotlight, and if this pareson is an in-law......good luck making anyone else see it!!!! They won't.
Hold your head high, be graceful and don't stoop down to their level. Living well is the best revenge. Everything that this person complains about, you do it well, and do it with pride and ease.......you'll feel much better!!

I can relate. I keep changing the subject. when I have heard enough I try to run away(HAHA) I know it is hard. When you visit try to do something. So you can focus on that. Hope it helps alittle.

Honestly I have a family member like that and to be honest I just day dream when she starts so that I don't have to listen. Or now that I have my DD- it's excuse me I think my daughter needs me.
I ignore it as much as I can because she makes my blood boil!

Seriously...I had that friend and DH helped me cut her off. He would not let me answer her calls and she finally got the point. She totally dragged me into her self-pity and non-existent drama!

the same thing happened to me, i felt like i was in another relationship with one of my gf's she was so needy, i couldnt deal with it, and phased the friendship out
