still not eating baby food.
So I tried to make her food - I have tried different mixtures of food, different textures - but Talia just refuses to eat baby food.
I am sure it is the texture...today at lunch my mom was letting her **** on a sour pickle - and she LOVED it - so obviously she can handle strong taste. If she had teeth I am sure she would be on finger foods - but she doesn't have any.
Any thoughts...should I just wait it out - keep trying and hope she'll be on finger food soon? Is there any finger food I can give her now?
(just want to mention she is gaining weight nicely and is a very happy baby - so I guess it's concerning me more than her).

Re: still not eating baby food.
My daughter also never was interested in baby food, I don't think you have to worry or force it.
Note: You don't have to wait for teeth for finger foods. The molars don't come in for a really long time. Most babies just mash the food with their gums.

Re: still not eating baby food.
I think Talia is a little bit older then Emily and we give Emily some very limited finger foods so far.
She eats grains of rice, one grain at a time.
Tiny tiny bits of soft bread.
I take little bits of fresh banana and give that to her, also fresh avacado.
I gave her a cucumber spear to **** on today -- no seeds.
You can probably start experimenting with different things.
Also my doctor gave us the OK at 6 months to start taking our own dinners and putting them in the blender. She said she'd like the taste a lot better. I haven't tried that yet though.

Re: still not eating baby food.
Hi! I am a SLP and I specialize in babies and feeding. I am not sure how old Talia is but I do have some info to offer. Babies younger than 12 months receive all of their nutrition from their breast milk or formula. Everything you feed your baby before 12 months is practice for later toddler-hood. You want your baby to build tolerance to texture, taste, and temp. Start each meal with some facial massage and input on tongue to build sensory awareness. Don't stress b/c nutrition is not being compromised but do keep trying!

Stupid question....what's an SLP? Sounds like you have a lot of great info to offer. Got any more advice on feeding or a website with some good info you could recommend. Thanks!!
