Going to San Fransico in Feb for 4 days what should I do there?

Im visiting my girl friend and she is new to the area too, just moved there so Im visiting her but want to make the most of the time- I know to go to Pier 39 but anything else to do? she lives in Foster City. thanks!

I would visit Alcatraz and definitely eat in some good restaurants. Check out Fodors for some info on other touristy things to do.

Hi there I just got back from San Fransico this weekend there are so many things to do! Here are some of my favorites......

Ride a cable car ( the Powell-Mason line is the scenic of the lines)

go to Chinatown- great for a cheap meal but ask someone at your hotel for their favorite place - we found a wonderful one called the Oriental Pearl

Go to The Embarcadero and see the Ferry Building lots of great food(and free samples) and cute shops you can walk past all the piers And down to the Aquatic Park from there through Fisherman's wharf

I also Liked Ghirardelli Square and about one block east is The Cannery which has more great shops and jugglers, musicians and food

BUT having said all this I have few things to warn you about....please Bring comfortable shoes and and you may want to leave your heels at home...I took a header down a hill with mine and that was no fun....... Also There are A LOT homeless people there for the most part they wont bother you but pls do be careful we were harassed more a few times

Also to see is Lombard Street, the SF Gate Bridge (rent a car or a bike if you can to do this), and the Sea Lions located at Pier 39 (they do smell though). Another option is to rent a car and take a trip (about 1 hr) up to napa and/or sonoma for a day of wine tasting.

We loved Alcatraz as well. You will love SF it is such a great place to visit.

Good tip on the shoes...another one is don't bring warm weather clothing. I did this in error and was wearing the same sweater for 6 days in a row! It's pretty chilly there all year long. So Jeans and sweatshirts/sweaters are good to have.

ETA - I would skip Chinatown - we did this and were not very impressed. The NYC one is so much better.

We went for the first 2 nights of our honeymoon. One thing I loved was we took a tour around the city... It was on a double decker bus like the big apple tour busses in the city. AWESOME. Brought you to so many places and told you the history about them. Definetly recomend it.

Kristin, I love your HM photos!!!!! thanks. My trip however may be postponed, DH is having second thoughts about me going, , he is old fashioned! My gf is so upset but understands. I want him to come but its difficult with his job,
