Had an LH surge April 4th expecting AF April 20 could I still get PG around this time or the gates are closed?

No....If you had a surge on the 4th and given that you DO ovulate...you would have ovulated, the 4th, 5th or 6th at the latest. So even if you ovulated on the last day there, the 6th, the 7th would have been a "possible" good day but lower chance and by now, your well into your 2WW.
As a matter of fact. If you O'd lets say right on the 5th, you could probably start taking a HPT around the the 15th-16th ( though thats still early, but wanted to give you a feel timing wise of where you stood)
