Home Owners Insurance
Should I wait until i get the Mortgage Comitment letter from the bank before getting the home owners insurance or can i get it now anyway just so it is out of the way? TIA

I think you need to actually close on the house first...at least we did.
edited: I think we did need it at closing...I can remember the day just couldn't remember if it was before closing or not.

you can buy it now and get it effective for your expected closing date. Its up to you whether you wan tto shell out the money now or later. (You have to pay your first years HOI upfront)

once we get a closing date I will call the company and pay for it, and it will start the day of closing, but I need the paid reciept to close.
