post pix of your cape kitchen
We have a traditional cape. We want to redo our kitchen (it is close to original except for appliances).
We basically have an open square room to work with where one corner has the doorway to the hallway and opposite from that is completely open into the dining room (no wall).
I'm looking for ideas to help us as we start talking to designers.

We just re-did our kitchen a few weeks ago! We're really happy with how it all came out.
ETA - I need to resize my pics and then post.
We didn't do much to the layout of the kitchen - just re-arranged where the appliances were, bumped out a closet and small wall but otherwise the original size of the kitchen is the same.

I love your cabinets. They look like they have the burnt wood look - is that how they look in person? I love love love them. Where did you get them?

Thanks! The cabinets have a glaze on them - so it gives them a bit more character and texture.

I would put an island around the edge of the square that is bare, if the kitchen looks out at the dining room or living room. My brother has that and it is really functional. They have the sink and dishwasher there. It will give you more counter space on the other side and you can look out and watch your kids (if you have any) or hand things out for dinner.

Hey Liz How are ya? I miss chatting with you!!! Yep, kitchen is all done, just need to paint. It was crazy to go through with a toddler, but totally worth it.

love your kitchen. Everything about it... can you tell me who did your kitchen; where did you purchase the cabinetry. Also, love your fridge. who makes it? I am sorry if I have a lot of questions, but this would be my ideal kitchen. Also, I heard so many negative things about stainless steel, how do you managed keeping it so clean w/o fingerprints.

I started this post, so I guess it's only fair that I post the final pictures of how my kitchen came out. It was a long road of construction and nightmare contractors, but it is SO worth it.

We went through Kitchens and Baths in Commack so everything was ordered through them. The fridge is Jenn-Air - we got all the appliances through a discount store in East Northport - Appliance Home Center I think is the name.
I don't find SS too hard to clean - we don't really touch the fridge doors - just the handles so that helps.
