Do you feel like with some people, you are the one who keeps it going?
I mean, I haven't heard from 2 bridesmaids in MONTHS!!! But this is always how it is. If I don't call or write, I don't hear from them. I feel like I have to always initiate everything. Drives me crazy!

Totally- I have one friend, who, if I want to talk to her, I have to call her. It definitely hurts but I don't want to lose the relationship.
Actually, there are a few people I have this issue with.

yup, and once my 1 year anniversary came and went, it was the final straw for me. (my birthday also came and went before that, but I figured "my friends HAVE to remember my anniversary, right? Especialy because it was a holiday weekend"...)Suuuuuuure.....

I've had people like that but I usually stop calling. Now that you mention I'm probably the friend that puts in less effort and should make more of an attempt at contact. Especially because I would never want them to think they're not important.
It's usually a situation where I have to catch up with them and know it will take about 30 min. So by the time I figure out when I can have 30 minutes of uninterrupted time - we're up to a minimum 45 minute phone call. One of my friends breaks the ice with a call that starts out with "Ok brief synopsis of the past 6 months - nothing is new but now..."
Thanks for the wake up call. I'll call her tomorrow definitely!
