I know Im (UPDATE-DIAGNOSIS AND VENT)

the other day went I went to change RJ's diaper i noticed 2 little red spots on his thigh- right by his diaper-

I thought nothing of it- and figured it was just irratation from his diaper-

Then yesterday- I noticed his lip looked a little puffy- like a blister-

Since RJ had to go to the Dr to get his MMR shot -I figured Id have the Dr look at it (at his lip- I didnt show him his leg- because as I said before- it was only 2 small little nothing spots- that looked like irratation from his diaper)

The Dr said that his lip was nothing, and that he prob had bitten it...

Now today- he woke up and his lip looks worse- more like a blister.... He did fall the other day- so its quite possible this is the result of a fat lip...

BUT those llittle spots on his legs have mulitplied, and now there are several on his thighs (thats the only place they are there) The look like little pimples...
There arent covering his leg there is probably a total of 8 ( 4 on each thigh)

My Dr told me that a side effect of MMR shot could be rash- BUT 2 appeared prior to getting the shot-

We are going out of the country in about 10 days- and Im so worried....


What do you think is going on?

Call your Peditarician. Mention your concern. Take him in for a sick call even. Better safe then sorry. Especially is you are going away.

SO its coxsackie-

I explained that last time he had coxsackie he had really high fevers before getting any spots- and he said that it could still come-

but either way its viral and all i could do is let it run its course....


Can someone tell me how my child who barely goes anywhere- and has MINIMAL interaction with other children keeps getting sick?????



Ohhh- and I just have to vent about my DH-

When I told him that the baby was sick- and that if he spiked a fever i wouldnt be going out tonight (Im supposed to be going to some party thing) he freaked out on me- saying that I dont trust him with our child- and that I dont think he can handle a sleeping baby with a fever....

1st off- I dont know what he is smoking that he thinks this kid is just gonna sleep- because last time we were up for 3 days straight!

2ndly- I wasnt aware that me WANTING to be with my sick baby was something he would take personally...

Its not that I dont think he can handle it- its just that I WANT TO BE WITH MY CHILD!!!

Arrggghhhhh Im so freakin mad!
Hopefully Ry will be better so we can go pumpkin picking sunday- but if not I just want him to be better for next week!

I'm sorry to hear he is sick again!

My friends girls get it all the time and sometimes they don't get the bad fever.

There are alot of babies/toddlers in Dh's unit and we always have it going around at functions since the kids are together alot. We have been lucky, Dh likes to think it's from me pumping for the first three months but I think it has more to do with binkys. We took the nub off Jack and got him off it around his 1st birthday. Alot of the children who seem to be getting it that we know have binkys still or a sibling who still uses them.

Does RJ use them still?

I love that your Dh said about a sleeping baby with a fever!!! What is it smoking!!

Ryan was given BM in the begining too- and I will say he never got sick until he hit about 10 months....

He does still take a pacifier- how do you think the pacifier effects it????

I sterlize everything like a psycho after he is sick and or discard and buy new binkys....


ETA- I guess DH said that because the last time the child was sick with coxsackie DH was asleep in bed all night every night- while I STAYED UP on the couch- so i guess in his dreams- the baby was asleep

Maybe someone at the his birthday party had it? I could be wrong but I thought that the containgious phase was before you even knew. I would call all the parents of the children that wre their and just let them know to maybe expect something. It stinks that it is right before you have to go away and hopefully he will get better fast.

Marissa, I am so sorry that Ryan has this again. You know I know how rough it is. To answer your one question, you could be picking up the virus at work and bringing it home to him. I know this happens a lot with my daughter once I go back to work too. My students get sick, I don't get anything and like a week later she gets it.

As for what your DH said, honestly if he thinks that it will be so easy, then go out for a little while. I know that it will be hard to leave RJ but for you to go out for 2 hours and prove it to him might be worth it.
