I tried to get into it a few times and couldnt. I know his books usually PICK up in the middle, btu it was just too big for me to get into it I guess.
I like John Irving so I was surprised.

DH just finished it. Every night when we would go to bed and read, he would say, "Oh, I still have ___ pages left in that awful book...." I kept telling him to just quit, but for whatever reason he HAD to finish it.
We normally really like Irving too, so I am not sure I will even start it.

I too gave it "time" , finally when I realized I was skipping entire paragraphs I just gave up. I knew it had gotten bad reviews too, I just thought I would like it...

It was a lonnnnnng read...I read it a while ago. Someone told me recently that it was semi autobiographical though, which makes it a little more interesting.
