In NYC we need 30, so I'm getting there. Unfortunately, we didn't get the after school program guide in time, so all of the courses are filled. Oh well. I'm thinking of doing the online ones and there is also this test that you can take and if you pass, it is good for 6 credits.

I have 33 right now, and I'm doing TWO classes in March... all of my weekends will be used up... but then I only need 6b credits over the summer (or possibly april/may/june) to get to 45 by September for the next bump up!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Teachers-credits

I have my MA + 75!!! I actually knocked them all out in a year and a half. I wanted all my credits done before I had children. When our next teacher contract came, the rules changed because a lot of teachers were moving up the steps very quickly. Now our district has it were you can't go that quickly.

We can only do 30 credits per contract... so it will take me until 2011 or 12 I think to get all the way to MA+90!!

I'm a college professor - I have two Master's Degrees and a Doctorate.

FYI: On the college level you don't make more money automatically when you have more credits, but it has a lot to do with promotions and tenure.

I took my Master credits through Fresno University which is credits you can do from home. I took the inservice through BEST. I also had to take district classes too. They were offered throughout the summer and on weekends. I just kept taking classes. It was a lot of work, but I am so glad I did it.
