Ask, Ax? What would you say?
so i'm training a very young girl- she's in sales- lots of phone calls, people contact, etc.
I've noticed she says "ax" instead of ask...
Should I mention this to her? This is not only a pet peeve ofmine, but of the company president. How should I bring this up, if at all?

i would just act like i was giving her a heads up that its a pet peeve of the Pres. Like just say it in a roundabout, buddy kind of way

I would just tell her that the pres is very picky about diction and likes when you annunciate words correctly. I think alot of people have pet peeves about this one/

I always talk to my students about Formal English and the importance of using Standard English. I think you should say something to her because now that you are working with her, her actions are a reflection of you.

My boss said someone told her not to say ax when she stated her first job & she was embarased but greatful. She didn't even realize she was doing it.
Definitely tell her.

I agree with the others that stated you should let her know. I think it was neenie that stated you should do it in a roundabout, headsup this is the president's pet peeve kinda way. Hell, I would love a heads up if I was doing something that was gonna tick off my head honcho.

It's "ask" and "sorry, my fault"...
"ax" is something you use to chop wood
"my bad", well  I actually had a colleague in the English dept. use "my bad" in a faculty memo
AN ENGLISH teacher 
As a teacher, both drive me crazy. What is it about being WANTING to sound ignorant these days?
