How much to you pay per gallon for oil?
We were locked in to a contract but that expired and now they're charging us $2.74 a gallon! 
What do you guys pay, who do you use and do you have a contract?

I just paid 1.97 two weeks ago for a COD delivery. Why not do a COD delivery if you contract ran out?
We have no contract since we just bought the house. We will get ourself into a contract, but I refuse to do it in winter while the pricing is high.

Our furnace is was put in at the end 1999 and we had plummer look at it. He said it's in great condition and to not bother with a contract until the rates go down and it's reasonable. He actually said we could go several years without one and he would feel comfortable. My aunt did that, it saved her a ton of money for a couple of years. Then she signed up for a contract as it go older.

We're using Meenan, which we've been using for 5+ years...we have a contract with them and we have used it several times for problems and they've always been great . about service - they get her fast and fix the problem fast.
But this is too much $$$! I want DH to call them and tell them we got a quote from another company for much less and make them drop their prices.

Us, too. We have a brand new Weil-McLean top rated furnace that my contractor (also licensed plumber put in). We will get it cleaned in the summer but otherwise a contract isn't necessary right now.

Meenan and Petro are, usually, the most expensive companies out there.

We have meenan and I called to renew my contract I was locked in at 1.89 until the end of feb. Well they gave me a price of 2.79. I called petro and found out they are sister companys and would rather not compete with each other but he did tell me that they could give me a much better price. So i called back and said i am not paying that price and they said well the price went down this week and i can give it to u at 2.59 I said solmins was giving it to me at 2.49 she said she could match that. So I am locked in at 2.49.
But I got the service contract in the mail today and it is 169.62 and I think i am going ot call and fight thta b/c last year it was $99.00 she told me there was an increase but $70 is a large increase.
see what happens with that.
