Anyone know if the water is safe now???
There were certain areas where the water was contaminated in West Hempstead & Franklin Square and we weren't allowed to shower, cook, drink, etc. Anyone know if it's safe yet??

I just spoke with my mother who lives in West Hempstead and she said they are flushing out the contaminated water today. But in the meantime, Garden City water is going to be piped into the affected areas. I would just stay away for now until you hear further details.
I live in an area of Franklin Square that was not contaminated, but the fact that everyone was alerted SO LATE about this is ridiculous! They found the contamination on the 23rd and letters only went in mailboxes yesterday after 4:00pm?!?!? That is soooooo crazy!!!

I need to shower!!! I may have to go to my mother's house again!!
And to top it off, the power is out in half of my co-op meaning my refrigerator is out too!!

No...water is not safe yet. They were flushing it all day yesterday too. Even after they take the samples it will be a couple of days until we know for sure....
I will say...trying to buy water last night at Pathmark and all surrounding grocery stores was next to impossible.
We also signed up for Poland Spring home delivery... With the thought of this happening again, or how long have we been drinking this crap... We're not taking any chances.

Honestly, if and when I move back out to LI, I would have bottled water or a really expensive filtration system. Hope you guys get it back to normal soon.
