what is the strep B test and what do i do if its positive?
I have mine next wednesday and i have no idea what it is realy or whats happens iof its positive. Also if its positive what doe sthat mean in terms of how did i get it?

If it is positive, they will give you antibiotics through an IV when you are in labor. It's not a big deal if it is positive.

When they do your internal they take a little swab. Not sure if you were asking how it was done or not.

Strep b is a natural bacteria found in all of us. During pg sometimes it multiplies, it's not harmful to us, nor is it an infection, but it can be harmful to the baby.
Strep b is found on the outside area of the vagina and near the rectum. That's where they swab.
If you test positive it's not a big deal at all. It's just a normal thing that could happen during pg due to the hormones.

I had mine a couple of weeks ago - they swab your vagina and your rectum - uncomfortable, but really no more than the internal exams they're already doing at this stage. I have no idea how one contracts Strep B, but last week my doctor said that my results came back negative, which meant that, if my water broke, and if I wanted to, I could labor at home for up to 10 hours afterward. Had it come back positive, I would have to go to the hospital as soon as my water broke (I suppose because of greater risk of infection). Hope that helps!

Its not an infection, just just a certain type of bacteria that is present in the vaginal/anal region. Its pretty common, all they do is give you antibiotics during labor.
