Ronkonkoma Train Station
Does anyone take the LIRR into NYC from Ronkonkoma?
I'm just wondering if you have to be a resident of the town to park in the lot at the train station.

Nope you don't have to be a town resident. I commuted from Ronkonkoma for 3.5 years.

I'm sure it's not a fun commute but we're looking at houses out that way and I thought the Ronk. line might be easier than some of the branches.

the commute isnt that bad....I have been doing the commute for about 3.5 years from ronkonkoma.
good Luck with your search! I live in Holbrook...about 5 mins from the station....if you have any more questions.

I live in E. Patchogue and commute from Ronkonkoma....it is better than taking the Patchogue Train... It is doable.

I live in Medford and take the train a lot...it's about a 10 minute drive from my house.

I'm going to do a test run tomorrow night and take the train out to Ronkonkoma and then do a nighttime drive by of the house we're interested in.
DH is concerned that it's way too long of a commute. But I'd rather have a long commute and a house that we can afford than a shorter commute and a house that's strapping us!

I did it for three years, it is very do-able. Parking is free except in the garage or in the lot in front of World Gym. Hopefully your schedule will allow you to take express trains

Yep!! You dont have to pay to park at the station, unless you are in the parking garage. there is one lot that is $4 for the day to park, next to the garage
I take a 6:08 train in the morning...of course I have not problems parking. I sometimes take the 7:04 and always find a spot.
