Re: POLL: Do you fear being retaliated against for making a complaint about your boss(es) to your HR dept?

I have never had a problem, but in all honesty, I really don't see myself going to HR if I did. I think I would see a headhunter first. I can't imagine that I would be taken seriously when he brings in so much money. Maybe if I did have a problem, I would view it differently.

I would never go to HR about my boss. I would probably find another job if the boss was my problem. I totally think a boss would be totally offended if you went over and beyond them and I would assume I would be treated like sh#t after the complaint. Thank God my boss is so nice.

I would never do it....Right before Christmas I was about to and I vented my frustrations to another impartial manager instead. I took her advice and things are somewhat better now....thank God I didnt go to HR - I cant imagine what my everyday life would be like at work now if I did - probably very bad!

I have actually had this problem. I had mentioned the problem to my boss and he did not rectify. I felt really bad doing it, but knew that the only way he would ever change is if I made the complaint to the HR person, so that is what I did.

Things were different for a while, but now we have a great relationship again, and he is more careful of other people's feelings when he says things. So, for me it worked out for the better!

OMG, I will never do this again!!!!! What a nightmare it turned into even though I was told it was going to remain confidential! Don't do it, people! Ever! If you're at the point you want to complain, do yourselves a favor and find a new job -- seriously! My bieggest regret ever! Chat Icon

Re: POLL: Do you fear being retaliated against for making a complaint about your boss(es) to your HR dept?

Sue, I did this.
My boss was a horrible biznitch and I could NOT get through to her..I worked for a HUGE corporate company and they PRESSED on the issue of going to HR w/any probs.
So I went to the HR girl and told her everything..ended up hysterically crying Chat Icon
SHe felt sooo bad. She said she would talk to my boss, but at that point, it was too late, nothing she could do, and I told her this too...
I just resigned bc I couldn't take it anymore-but I am SO glad that I told the HR girl...bc 2 months after I left, my ex boss GOT FIRED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
