Repeat c-section question

For those of you who had one, do you think scheduling the date took away some of the excitement of the birth? You know, because you aren't wondering when you will go into labor, you aren't worrying about how labor will progress, whether your water will break somewhere odd or at all, etc?

I had a c-section with DD and DH and I were taking the other day about next time, and I started to feel a little sad because I think some of the excitement of the pregnancy will be gone. Did you feel this way at all?

Re: Repeat c-section question

I was so happy that I had a scheduled c even though I ended up having an emerg the week before I was scheduled.
I am a planner and I loved knowing when it was going to be and not having to worry about going into laborChat Icon

I have no choice but to have a repeat c but I am very happy about that.

My repeat c is on Nov 16th and we are still so excited. I have the days counted down on our calender, plus we were able to plan it so my DH could get the most days off when we come home. We are waiting to find out the sex so we do have a surprise waiting for us.Chat Icon

This birth will be a repeat c-section. My due date is May 6th - The dr will take the baby 10 days prior. With my 2nd I'm not as upset by having the day planned - it makes things a little easier. I don't think I would feel that way if it were my first.

Re: Repeat c-section question

Hmm, I had mixed feelings. With # 2, I felt that way and did NOT plan it. I wanted to try for a vbac and also didnt care for scheduling it. so I still had that spark and magic of "waiting" (well its not so magical towards the very endChat Icon ) but I also didnt know the sex, so I had that to look fwd to also.

W/# 3, I scheduled it, it WAS kinda exciting because it was scheduled for daddy's bday, so that was fun. It WAS nice to prep everything, look decent for pics Chat Icon but it did feel a little weird to schedule it. It was exciting just the same. in some ways it was more exciting because we were both like THIS IS IT THIS IS IT BABY !!!!!!! Chat Icon and the Drs were all ready for us, my family had everything planned etc.
we DID know the sex w # 3, but we were excited to see who he would look like... and even w # 3, theres still this excitement of OMG We're having ANOTHER BABY ????????? IS THIS REAL ?????????????????

So its hard to say, I can sit on either side of the fence... theres both feelings if that makes sense.

At the end, when you see that baby, you will still explode in a bucket of happy tears to see and hear this precious amazing miracle of God come into your worlds.... Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I only had one day notice for my c-section which is different from knowing for months but I felt the excitement was still there. It was also our first child so we were very excited.

Re: Repeat c-section question

I was afraid of this, but in the end, it was great! I didn't want to miss out on the whole "water breaking experience" and all that excitement but I had a wonderful c-section experience. I would never trade it for a vaginal birth!
