Have you been to Peter Luger's in Brooklyn? It's a steak house - I personally haven't been but many people I know rave about it.

I looove Flor de Sol.
It is on Greenwich Street, I believe.
Great Spainish tapas place, romantic and cozy but not stuffy and over priced. I haven't been in a long time but I really love this place.

Great Jones Cafe
on Great Jone's St off Blecker (between Bleecker & Bowery)- Can take train to Astor Place & walk a little south.
It's really excellent- small tiny place- GREAT drinks- great food (black board of just really fresh great options- they always have a po-boy, gumbo and a jambalya- then they have a great catfish)

Love this place...
I like Piesantra, but I prefer Rachel's on 8th between 43rd and 44th. They are both owned by the same people. Rachel's has a great ravioli in a truffle cream sauce that is vegetarian, not vegan, but veggie.
Basilica on 8th between 46th and 47th.
Don Giavonni on 44th( I think) between 7th and 8th.
The Hourglass Cafe on 46th between 8th and 9th. Great prices and solid food.
Sofia's on 46th between 7th and 8th.
