7 months pregnant and.....
got laid off.
Wow, they gave me one month severence pay. And I've been with this company for 4 years, and worked for the owner for 4 years before that.........
How does a 7 month pregnant woman find a job? Does anyone know any legit work from home options?

I have been looking for a job, even before I got pregnant.

I know this is not much help BUT I think one day a user Danielleandscott posted some legit work from home companies (If i remember right he did a TON of research) you may want to search his user name or shoot him a FM
I am sorry you have to go thru this though

there is a work from home position on the career board--it sounded really interesting, check it out..i am so sorry this happened, getting laid off ***** in general and to be preggo is even worse at a time like this--maybe u can get a job as a receptionist or something for the time being

i feel your pain. i am also 7 mths pregnant and since we moved home from Florida, I can't find a job anywhere! I have been subbing for now, but I don't think any district will hire me. And I know I was past over for a position I deserved because of my "condition".

i was worried about this as well, but our backup plan was that i would not look for work and just collect unemployment until  arrives.
looking for a job at 7 months preggo IMO is useless. if you are in need of $$$ i would tap my immediate network of friends and family to see if they have any short-term or part-time work available. pounding the pavement blindly will add more stress and disappointment. as much as companies are "not allowed" to discriminate, they do.

Thanks everyone, I applied for unemployment this morning, so hopefully it will help cover basic costs. It is especially hard b/c I make more then my DH, so it is hard loosing a salary. At least they gave me 30 days severance! HA!

They laid off 4 people yesterday b/c of the financial health of the comapny - had an idea it wasn't doing great, but goodness, couldn't they have let me kept my job until I went on maternity leave? I've worked for this person for 7 years almost - 3 in NYC, and then 4 in Atlanta. I'm still going to talk to someone to make sure I watch out for our best interest.

You should try to negotiate for more severance -if you haven't signed the agreement yet.
If it's any consolation, I would hire someone who was pregnant if I was assured they would work afterwards.

i was laid off at 6 1/2 months pregnant was with the company for 3 years. they didnt want to pay me maternity so they figured they would discontinue my position. i called the ethics line and contacted a lawyer. i was told that it was discrimination in my case since i was the only one let go. i was given my maternity and 2 weeks severance for ever year iworked and now i get to collect unemployment. i interview for 1 month after i was let go and had no luck since they didnt want a preggo woman - they couldnt say that but i understood!
