Hmm, this totally depends, Ive heard of 3yr olds still in their cribs, and I know my sister has put her kids in TWIN beds by 18m (had em close in age)...
My boys were both in toddler beds before their 2nd bdays. and they did very well. we were afraid of mischieveous behavior, but surprisingly enough never had to worry about it.

I guess it depends on the child (whether you think theyre going to climb out, etc.) how close the bed/room is to you at nite, etc.

Just be sure to remove furniture or nail it to the walls.

I had put my daughter in a toddler when she was 11 months old that was becuz she would not sleep in h er crib anymore she would only fall asleep in a bed. She did very well with it .

I would say 12 months is the youngest but that it depends on how your house is childproofed.
