a beginner's charting questions

Hi, everyone,

Please excuse my ignorance -- I started charting last month and I haven't read the information on the FF website in much detail...

Typically, when is it possible to conceive? I mean... how many days pre-ovulation? Is it at all possible to conceive post-ovulation?

Also, do people have different ovulations days from month to month? Last cycle, my chart indicated CD17 as the ovulation day, but this cycle, it was CD15. Maybe my cycle is just irregular?

Thank you so much for any advice, and for your patience with my dumb questions! Chat Icon

Re: a beginner's charting questions

Well, there are conflicting reports about how long sperm can live prior to ovulation occuring.

I know when I conceived I BD the day before and the day of ovulation.

Once I got the positive OPK I tried to BD three days in a row.

Yes, your O date can move- mine did all the time.

I used the clearblue easy fertility monitor and BD'd every other day when the monitor said high and then everyday it said peak - so I have no idea when I actually conceived.

I believe your chances of conceiving go down significantly the day after ovulation but there's still a chance b/c the egg can survive for a couple of days.

My O date changed all the time.

I am new at charting also! AFter I O'ed, fertility friend VIP has a section called "Intercourse Timing Analyzer" which considers your fertile days as O-3 days, O-2 days, O-1 day, O, and O+1 day. It also says the chances of conceiving on O+1 day is small. Hope this helps!!! Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
