My 38 Week Dr. Appt...GRRRRRRRR!
I swear this kid does not want to come out of me.
No dilation...No NOTHING.
AND he's talking about inducing if I don't go on my due date (12/19). He says the Dr's in the practice don't let you go past 41 weeks, which I think is total bulls*!t. The baby is totally healthy (as am I), and for all I know, they could have miscalculated wrong.
He mentioned possibly doing "cervical ripening" on like the 21st or so if nothing has changed, which I am strongly against.
It is my biggest fear to be induced, I find that too many women wind up w/ a C-Section this way.
I'm in the Wholistic Healthcare field & want to progress as naturally as possible, and this news today really angered me.
So even though my due date hasn't arrived yet, please send me some labor vibes so that I will be able to go into labor on my own.
I'm going to start walking more today (even though it's freezing out!), and perhaps I'll dabble with my accupressure points a bit this week!
Italian & Mexican food...Here I come!!!

I know how you feel Andrea..my due date is 4 days from today and my docters appt yesterday showed NOTHING happening..I'm as frustrated as you are!
my docter says the latest he would let me go is 12/18..
he is sending me for an ultrasound tomorrow morning to see where everything is at..
hang in there!!
just wanted to add- make sure you tell him your birthing plan and stick to your guns about it...as long as you and baby are healthy they should honor your request..

They probably want to induce you for their own convenience around the holidays....as long as you and baby are healthy I am with you... progress naturally

The same thing happened to me at my 38 week and 39 week appts. My doc and I spoke about inducing as well. DH and I were so upset thinking our son wouldn't be home for Thanksgiving. Well the day after my 39 week appt, I gave birth to my son. Less than 24 hrs later, I was 4cm dialated. So DON'T give up hope. Labor can come on at any minute. You can not be dialated at all one minute and the next be in labor. Oh, the day before I gave birth I ate falafel balls and a knish Maybe try that?

Andrea please know, that just because you arent dialated or effaced, that dosent mean you couldnt go into labor TONIGHT!!
Dont let yourself get upset!!! My dr.'s office dosent let you go more than a week either...
Walk alot and do some squatts!!!

I was scheduled to be induced at 38 weeks due to medical reasons, and I did A LOT of research. My water ended up breaking on its own at 35 weeks, but I had no contractions and wasnt dilating, so I ended up being induced anyway. My Bishop Score was only a 3 when they started Pitocin (after Cervidil) and I was SURE I wouldnt progress, but I went from 6-10 in about 5 minutes, and delivered vaginally with no problems. FM me if you want more details on the induction.

My doctor said it was her policy it induce by 41 weeks. So when I got to my 40 week appt she scheduled me for an induction the week later. At first I wasn't that scared but then I started reading about induction. Two days before the induction, I told DH that I was going to tell the doctor the next day that I wanted to wait for natural labor at least until 42 weeks. Well I woke up in labor the next morning. Although I'm glad I went into labor on my own, it was a good thing the induction was scheduled bc my son ended up having a BM in-utero.
If you are not comfortable doing the induction talk to them about your concerns.

I wasn't dilated at all and the baby was very high just a few days before I went into labor (he even did a sono to see why the baby was so high!), I went to the Dr. on Monday and he told me not to expect to have the baby anytime soon, I went into labor only a couple days labor. Don't let the Dr. be impatient, the baby will come when it's ready
