should I ask for progesterone level?

I have never had this done and always secretly wondered if this could be part of the problem since I have spotting for a few days before AF. I think I asked a while ago and the MD didnt think this was significant. I mentioned it to the RN one time who said I could ask for it, and it is done a certain number of days after you O. I forgot to ask about it when they did my IUI.

Should I call them and ask if I can come in for a progesterone level?

I would, it never hurts to ask.
The test should be done 7DPO

If you have had an IUI, they usually have you come back a week later to have it checked and if it is low they give you something for it.
If they didnt have you make an appointment, then yes, i would call.

if you are having IUI's , they are testing it on each "blood work day" at RSONY....

Definitely ask to get it done Pauline, I just had to remind a doctor at rsofny, to have me come back at 7dpo for progesterone testing. She said "oh yeah that's a good idea " lol My progesterone had been low in the past, and since I just used femara....we will see if it corrected itself. When you go to rsofny they also test progesterone at 14 dpo when if you get a beta done.

Your progesterone on an unmedicated cycle should be over 10 and if you were on clomid or femara, over 15 is desirable :)

This is my 3rd IUI cycle, and they have NEVER asked me to come back on 7dpo or 14dpo for bloodwork. I wonder what that is about. I know Donna last time had bloodwork done the day of IUI, and I have never had that either. Tomorrow will be 7dpo so I think I will call them in the morning.

RSofNY never checked your progesterone? Very weird!! They did that the first month I was there. I would ask for it.

ETA: its possible they forgot??? I dont know - they told me it was standard to test your progesterone. Let us know!

maybe, all I know is I NEVER had bloodwork after I O'd. I will call them in the AM for sure now.

So, I called and the receptionist said the MD would have told me to make an appointment if I needed it done and that lots of women never have it tested.

I left a message for the nurse anyway.

I would just make the appointment and go in. I think progesterone is a very important test, especially for someone who has never had one. It actually fluctuates each cycle....so not sure why they don't always do it. It has been the most telling test for me. Just say, I am calling to come in for progesterone....and tell them what time you can make it. End of story.

the nurse called me back, and basically said if they have never tested it before its because they dont think its necessary and they only usually do it when someone has a h/o m/c and I dont (knocking on wood). She said if I really wanted it I could come in for it. Its too late today (I ahve to be to work soon) Maybe I will make an appt for tomorrow.
